PEDAL WITH PURPOSE AT THE SPARKLE CYCLE 2024 TO HELP CHILDREN AND COMMUNITIES IN MALAWI
Riders can tackle distances from 50 kilometres to 500 kilometres individually or as part of a group
Event takes place at Al Qudra Cycle Track in Dubai on 15-16 November
All funds will go towards supporting Sparkle Foundation’s crucial work in Malawi
DUBAI, 31 October – Join next month’s Sparkle Cycle 2024, organized by CTF, and pedal up to 500 kilometres to raise funds to support the impactful work of The Sparkle Foundation in Malawi, making a real difference to over fifteen thousand lives.
The overall mission for individuals and groups is to cycle the distance from Dubai to Zomba, Malawi, which is 5,000 kilometres, and raise at least AED 100,000 for The Sparkle Foundation’s life-changing projects.
Everyone is welcome to join the challenge, which takes place on 15-16 November at Al Qudra Cycle Track in Dubai. Registration costs AED 100, which can provide a child with food and education for a month, with the fee going directly to The Sparkle Foundation.
The first 100 sign-ups will receive a free t-shirt, F&B on the day, fundraising ideas and a link to the fundraising campaign where you can legally raise money in the UAE..
After that, it’s about deciding how much of a challenge you are prepared to take on:
- Sign up as an individual and conquer a single lap of the 50-kilometre Al Qudra Cycle Track in Dubai
- Gather your friends, family, or colleagues, forming a team to tackle as many laps as you can from 6pm on 15 November, continuing through the night and into the next day
- Alternatively, take on the ultimate challenge: the full 24-hour, 500 kilometre ride from 15-16 November
A family fun ride will be held on 16 November, with riders arriving at 7am and setting off at 8am. There will be entertainment for kids and F&B as part of a day you’ll simply never forget.
Geoff Warr, Founder of The Sparkle Cycle, said: “We want as many people as possible to join us on our very first challenge – it’s going to be an unforgettable experience no matter how many kilometres you decide to take on, and you’ll be raising vital funds to help children and their communities in Malawi.”
Warr came up with the idea for the Sparkle Cycle inspired by his own story of resilience following a solo skydiving accident in 2021, resulting in a broken back. Upon making a full recovery, he and Sparkle Foundation founder, Sarah Brook, decided to create an endurance cycling challenge celebrating fitness, aligned with Dubai’s 30 by 30 fitness challenge, and championing the Sparkle Foundation’s efforts in Malawi.
Money from the Sparkle Cycle will support The Sparkle Foundation’s crucial work. So far in 2024 alone, the Foundation has provided 46,306 hours of learning for children through funding teachers and classroom facilities, 5,480 medical treatments, 65,656 meals, and helped 17 Malawi villages with other much-needed services
