Following a conciliation process conducted pursuant to the ICC Anti-Discrimination Code for Participants (the “Code”), the ICC confirms that a consensual resolution has been achieved following an incident prior to the Israel versus Austria match played on 10 June 2024 as part of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier A.
Following the confidential conciliation process, which was conducted by Paul Mortimer, an independent expert in the area of anti-discrimination and race relations, the Austrian Cricket Association unreservedly apologised to the Israel Cricket Association and the Israel cricket team for any hurt or offence that may have been caused by the incident in question.
The process noted that the Austrian Cricket Association (ACA) had taken swift action to address the issue with the player responsible and appropriate disciplinary sanctions had been imposed on the player concerned through the ACA’s disciplinary processes.
In achieving this consensual resolution, all parties reiterated that discrimination of any kind has no place in cricket and prompt steps should be taken to deal with any incident of inappropriate behaviour.
