Artbooth Gallery Unveils Jamal Bassiouni’s ‘The World of Mirrors’ – A Voyage through AncientLight and Color
Artbooth Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of acclaimed Egyptian artist Jamal Bassiouni titled “The World of Mirrors.” The show will take place on the ground floor of Centro Capital Centre by Rotana in the ADNEC area from February 28 to April 15. Through Bassiouni’s vivid and poignant paintings, the show enables art aficionados to travel back in time and explore ancient Egyptian beliefs regarding enlightenment and the afterlife.
“In The world of mirrors we say what is above is what is below , a soul to heaven and a body to earth. A journey starts as the sun sets inside of us and we are to receive the resurrection while we live . A process of pain and suffering to happiness and pleasure . Never forget that , the words are not the reality ,only reality is the reality; pictures, symbols, lines that cut through time , without a beginning and without an end” -Jamal Baaiouni-Bassiouni has created a series that addresses the soul’s never-ending search for light and purpose, drawing heavily from the ancient Egyptian conception of the afterlife and their solar boat journeys.
“The ancient Egyptians’ solar boats, guiding souls through darkness to the light, sparked my imagination,” Bassiouni reflects. “This concept, rooted in my childhood memories of Alexandria’s sea, has led me on a personal and ongoing voyage of discovery.”
Bassiouni’s work is a testament to the enduring allure of cultural heritage, blending the boldness of Art Deco with the mystique of ancient symbols. His paintings are a kaleidoscope of geometric patterns, vibrant hues, and intricate motifs, each inviting the viewer into a deeply personal space of reflection and emotion. “Through my art, I endeavor to bridge the realms of the visible and the invisible, using colors, shapes, and symbols to navigate the complex interplay of life’s dualities,” states Bassiouni.
The exhibition “The World of Mirrors” transcends traditional art displays, offering a gateway to unravel the deep interplay between ancient wisdom and modern artistic expressions. Bassiouni’s works serve as a vibrant reminder of the journey each of us undertakes, echoing the ancient belief in a voyage that transcends the physical world.
Artbooth Gallery takes pride in presenting this insightful exploration of light, color, and spirituality.
Viewers are encouraged to immerse themselves in the profound vision of Bassiouni, akin to the
ancient solar boats, assuring a journey to realms of beauty and enlightenment.
